Connections A Hypertext Resource for Literature

Annotation #1

This assignment has two functions: first, to put you in conversation with the readings for today; and second, to ensure that everyone is able to use Teams, interact with their groups, and use their classwork documents. Here are the steps of the assignment, which is due by 7:00 p.m. Iowa time on Friday:

  1. After you have read the Whitworth piece, read Eliot's "Love Song" with Whitworth's comments in mind. Prepare two ways of connecting the readings.
  2. Go to your group's channel in Teams and select it. Find the Files tab at the top, and click it to find your group's copy of "Love Song" as a Word document.
  3. Open the Word document (directly in Teams) and enter your two connections between Whitworth and Eliot as new comments on the poem. These can be bref--a sentence or two is fine. Attach the comments to the lines of the poem that are most important to each comment.
  4. Enter a reply to a comment from one of your groupmates. (If you are the first one to comment, you may have to check back for your groupmates' comments later.) Check any earlier replies to make sure that you're replying to someone whose comments haven't yet received a reply, so everyone gets one reply to one of their comments. Use your reply to share what your classmate's comments makes you think of about Whitworth's piece or the poem. The reply can be brief.
  5. Finally, enter your comments and your reply into your classwork document, which is also in the Files section of your group channel on Teams.
