Creative Response

This assignment asks you to apply your close reading and analytical skills to a small creative project: a composition in the mode of Gertrude Stein and Harryette Mullen. The assignment is due by 3:00 p.m. on Monday and will consist of the following parts:

1. A title
2. A series of at least four paragraphs (a total of at least 150 words) adapting Stein's and/or Mullen's methods to your own purposes
3. A reflection of about a page (at least 400 words) explaining what parts of Stein's or Mullen's methods you adapted at three levels: the selection of content or subject matter for your piece, its sentence structure, and its diction (choice of words).
