Assignments

This section contains the assignments for the current seminar. Because the details of assignments sometimes change during a semester, these online assignment descriptions are the authoritative versions. The online versions will not shift without notice, however; any changes will be announced by email to the class.

The grade weights for the class are as follows:

  • Regular weekly assignments, mainly in the classwork document: 65%
  • Final paper: 35%

Submissions for the regular weekly assignments will earn full credit (a grade of A) if they respond fully to the prompt, meaning they do what the assignment asks them to do, and are submitted on time.

The work will earn 60% of full credit for any reasonable submission in response to the assignment, 20% for responding fully to the prompt, and 20% for timely submission. The credit for "responding fully" can be earned late; if I see anything missing from a submission, I will make a comment in my grading that points out what needs to be added for the student to receive that credit.

Because they are more substantial, Friday writing assignments will count twice as much as other daily assignments in the grading.
